Victoria’s Secret model agrees to stop lingerie show

The end of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show did not come as a surprise to Karlie Kloss. The model believes that this decision corresponds to the world in which we currently live, she said in a show on Thursday.

“It was decisive for me as a feminist”

“Consumers nowadays place different demands on brands. They want them to be inclusive, sustainable and to spread a positive body message. I think brands should continue to develop,” said the 27-year-old, who himself walked a few times in the once so popular show but stopped in 2017. She said in the talk show on Thursday: “I am grateful for the possibilities that I got, but I wanted to leave it behind.”

The parent company of the lingerie brand announced last month that it would stop the catwalk show. Kloss already commented on the concept of the show and brand in the British Vogue last summer. “I decided to quit my work for Victoria’s Secret because I did not think it suited who I am and what message I want to give young women about what beauty is.”

At the time, the model called her departure from the lingerie brand a crucial moment for herself. “It was decisive for me as a feminist. I want to make my own choices and decide what I want to express. Whether I do that by choosing which companies I work with, or by creating a certain image of myself.”
