The party of ex-prime minister Netanyahu and related parties have won the Israeli elections. According to exit polls, the bloc garnered a narrow majority of 61 or 62 of the 120 seats in Parliament.

It was the fifth time in less than four years that the Israelis could elect a new parliament. Netanyahu is hoping to make a political comeback after waging opposition for more than a year.

The current government coalition consists of both left and right parties, which are united primarily in their dislike of the former prime minister. The anti-Netanyahu coalition lost its narrow majority in Parliament earlier this year and failed to regain it.

Netanyahu was prime minister in the 90s and later also between 2009 and 2021.
