Toyota and Isuzu will cooperate to present better batteries and fuel cells

1 min read

Car manufacturer Toyota will develop batteries for electric cars and hydrogen fuel cells for trucks together with subsidiary Hino and manufacturer Isuzu. The Japanese companies also want to take joint technological steps in the area of autonomous driving for smaller trucks.

The cooperation comes at a time when the entire automotive industry has to make the transition from fossil fuel to renewable and cleaner energy. Global governments have targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The big older car companies have had competition from ‘newcomers’ such as car manufacturers Tesla, Rivian and Nikola.

Toyota and Isuzu take a stake in each other’s companies worth nearly $ 400 million.
