WeTransfer emails were sent to the wrong address

In a message to users, WeTransfer informed users that emails with links to files were sent to random email addresses earlier this week. It is not known how many emails are involved.

Larger files can be sent via WeTransfer that do not fit as an attachment in an e-mail. The files are uploaded by the sender to WeTransfer and can be downloaded via a link via e-mail. WeTransfer will let you know in the message that on 16 and 17 June different e-mails have arrived at the wrong recipients. The links have since been blocked and the users who went wrong have been informed.

The company says it is currently investigating how the emails ended up with the wrong recipients. The data breach has been reported to the authorities.
